What is a Fitness Instruction Appenticeship?

The Fitness Instruction Apprenticeship scheme provides an opportunity for organisations to benefit from well trained, motivated and cost effective members of staff who can increase their capacity for delivery.

At the same time the school will create unique learning and employment opportunities for Apprentices to earn while they learn.

Which organisations can employ an Apprentice?

Any organisation can employ a Fitness Instruction Apprentice, these may include:

  • Gyms
  • Leisure Centres
  • Health Clubs
  • Local businesses
  • Other leisure organisations

What training does the Apprentice receive?

The Level 2 and Level 3 Apprenticeship framework provides and opportunity for employers to select qualifications to meet their needs. The choice of qualifcations includes:

  • Fitness instruction
  • Personal training
  • Leading health related activity
  • Excercise to music
  • Increasing participation
  • Fitness walking
  • ...and many more

What is the cost to an organisation?

The only cost to the employer is the wages of the apprentice. An apprentice must be paid a minimum of £2.65 per hour and must be employed a minimum of 30 hours per week.

There are currently government grants available of £1,500 for employers that have not employed an apprentice is the last 12 months.
