What is an ICT Apprenticeship?

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Apprenticeships have proven to be very effective at filling skill gaps within organisations across various sectors. What training does the Apprentice receive?

Level 2 Diploma in IT User Skills (ITQ)
This qualification is achieved through on the job training, contact support arrangements and provider classroom based delivery. The qualification draws from the units from the ITQ framework. All ITQ Awarding Organisations use the same shared units in their Diplomas.

Employee rights and responsibilities
The Employee Rights & Responsibilities must be formally assessed and verified through completing and assessing the Employment Rights and Responsibilities Portfolio, available from e-skills.

Functional Skills
Functional Skills can include English, Maths and ICT. These qualifications are delivered throughout the apprenticeship if required by the learner.

What is the cost to an organisation/business?

The only cost to the employer is the wages of the apprentice. An apprentice must be paid a minimum of £2.65 per hour and must be employed a minimum of 30 hours per week.

There are currently government grants available of £1,500 for employers that have not employed an apprentice is the last 12 months.
