What is a Sports Coaching Appenticeship?
The Sports Coaching Apprenticeship scheme provides an opportunity for organisations to benefit from well trained, motivated and cost effective members of staff who can increase their capacity for delivery.
At the same time the school will create unique learning and employment opportunities for Apprentices to earn while they learn.

Which organisations can employ an Apprentice?
Any organisation can employ an Sports Coaching Apprentice, these may include:
- Local authories
- Professional sports clubs
- Coaching companies
- Local businesses
- Community organisations
- Schools
What training does the Apprentice receive?
The Level 2 framework consists of:

Level 2 NVQ in Activity Leadership awarded by 1st4Sport Qualifications.
This qualification is achieved on the job and accredits what the apprentice does in their day to day role.

Level 2 Certificate in Coaching [Sport] - This can be any National Governing Body sport
This qualificationis achieved off the job.

Level 2 Certificate in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning awarded by 1st4Sport Qualifications.
This qualification is delivered at the start of the apprenticeship as part of the induction.

FunctionalSkills
Funcational Skills can include English, Maths and ICT. These qualifications are delivered throughout the apprenticeship if required by the learner.
The Level 3 framework consists of:

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Sports Development awarded by 1st4Sport Qualifications.
This qualification is achieved on the job and accredits what the apprentice does in their day to day role.
- Plus other qualifcations dependant on the needs of the employer.
What is the cost to an organisation?
The only cost to the employer is the wages of the apprentice. An apprentice must be paid a minimum of £2.65 per hour and must be employed a minimum of 30 hours per week.
There are currently government grants available of £1,500 for employers that have not employed an apprentice is the last 12 months.
